looking for any info on family or family members still alive.Grandmothers name was Helen R Gurtowski married Henry J Gurtowski two daughters my mother Leona Gurtowski was taken away and put into foster care,my aunt Pamela J Gurtowski was adopted by a family named Polisse in 1956.They lived on the Erie Canel know grandmother had half brother dont know name, know grandfather had a sister named Victoria Lesnau.Mothers foster parents were Red and Mary Morgan and two girls of there own.Any info would be helpfull. Valerie, I am also looking for any Gurtowski or Gurtowsky's out there. I believe my great-great grandfather Stanislaw Gurtowski was a police officer in New York. I am not sure when, but he was born in 1860 in Poland. I would love to share info with you. It is very hard to find any out there!!

hi melissa, i guess we are cousins, i think third, if your mom is my mom's cousin (beverly)...thanks for the info on our great great grandfather, i am just beginning to get into this research, it is time consuming and painstaking, but very worthwhile! i don't really like ancestry.com i am thinking of purchasing some geneology software. what other resources are you using? i utilized ellisisland.org, geneology.com and ancestry.com....it is all very confusing! well, if you ever want to chat you can email me anytime...i live in MI, where are you from?

Name Gurtowski is quite rare here in Poland. I have some family members with Gurtowski from Lipno - Bydgoszcz region (central Poland). One of my relatives back in early 1900ies was also Stanislaw Gurtowski... would be good to know which are of Poland your family members come from.

Thank you for responding to my message!! It has been really hard to find many people with the Gurtowski, or Gurtowsky name here too. Our Stanislaw Gurtowski was born in Warszawa, Warszawaskiego, Poland in 1860. I will have to look on a map and see where the Lipno-Bydgoszcz region is. Stanislaw's wife, Uzefa Zebroska (or Zembrowski) (she went by Josephine here) was also born in Warszawa in 1864. They were married in New York in 1885. I don't have any info on Stanislaw's parents, but I do know that Uzefa's mother's maiden name was Streborg. Since this name is so rare, I would assume that we are related somewhere down the line. It would be interesting to find out how, if we are!! I really enjoy researching the history and trying to put together the pieces!

not related. have found henry and helen gurtowski and some of family info. henry born brooklyn, son of joseph and francis, brother wallace was married to an ann. 3 sisters . anyone want this?

Gurtowski brothers married 2 Chilinski sisters- their descendants are probably still living in Lipno. I would like to find contact with them.
We share a common ancestor - Aniela Kwiatkowska/Jedrzejewska/Chilinska.
Mariusz, in another post you asked about Glowinski - my grandfather's sister married Stefan Glowinski & emigrated to the US. Woulkd love to find their descendants in the US.
