My great-grandmother, Frances Jane EVANS, was born in Bolton, Ont. in 1875. She married Walter Huckvale July 28, 1898 in Macleod, Alberta and lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta where her children were born. I'm not sure if this is the same Evans family tree - please let me know if there is any connection.

Did you perhaps mean to write "Henry & Hannah (Conklin) HOSNER, instead of Hill?

Curious -- I suppose by now you have been in contact with Jim McCallum of the London, Ont area. If you did meant o write HOSNER instead of Hill, write me back and I'll give you some leads. A Henry Hosner who married a Hannah Conklin was my 2ggf's brother and he was born in Otsego County, N. Y. and went up to Jefferson County, N. Y. - leaving there in the 1830's with my 3ggf. for Haldimond County, Ontario. I thought I had the whole file on the Rootsweb system, but I can't find it there now. Shirley - twigs@bright.net

Hi Shirley
It was me (Jim) who posted that query. Yes, I did mean Henry's surname to be Hosner, not Hill. I guess I was typing too fast. Thanks for picking up the error.

I noticed that you know of some Ontario Steens and are looking for more (very exciting!). I think I can help, and I'm hoping you can help me learn more about my ancestry. I grew up in South Cayuga, close to where the original Steen family farm was purchased from the Indians.

My name is Cynthia Weeden, nee Smith. I am just getting started on the Steen history - although more for interest in my background as opposed to doing a proper family tree. I received this from my Mother - Joyce Steen (now Smith), Dunnville, ON. Her brother is Floyd Steen in Kincardine,ON and her sister is Mildred Steen (now Kozar) in Dunnville, ON. .

Her father was Sanford Steen, born 1900 and he married Marjorie Rogers.

Here is an excerpt from an email from my Mother. Do any of these names look familiar to you? I look forward to hearing from you, and I'm happy to try to get anymore information you need if there is a connection. Cynthia.

>>Quite a while ago, I asked Mom for some info. I wrote it on a pad, and
will relay it to you. I don't think she remembered the whole family....no
one seems to know!
My Grandpa Steen was Elias Coleman Steen. He died in 1939 at the age of
68. He was supposed to have had 5 brothers and 6 sisters. His mother's
last name was Coleman and she is buried at Mount Olivet cemetary.
Moses, the eldest went to Klondike and was never heard from........
Elias, stayed on the home farm......Mildred might be able to help you with
the deed from the Indians
Harper, was the youngest, lived in Dunnville, had a daughter named Mae
(Cowell) deceased
Sam, London??
George, Comber?? (Steen's Dairy???)
Laura, never married, cook in Buffalo
Lizzie, married a Knight???? South Woodslee
Maria, mother of Sara Kumberger
Annie, mother of Ardie, Elmer, and Joe Senn Hagersville area??

Hi,
I have just accessed your message on the board of ancestry. I am afraid I cannot be of any help to you, but hopefully you can help me.
My family name is HUCKVALE. Please could you give me any information you have on Walter who married Jane Evans on July 28th 1898. How many children did they have? What were their names? Did they marry and have children?
I would greatly appreciate your help with this string of my ancestors, who are missing from my past. Thank you.
