Any information regarding the family Watzin and the family Janshitz from the Vorderberg area would be greatly appreciated. My Great-Grandfather is Valentine Watzin, child of Josefa Watzin, born 1873, and my Great-Grandmother is Agnes, no other info known, born 1880. Val emigrated to America in 1899 and Agnes emigrated in 1902. They were married in Milwaukee County, Wisc, USA in 1904. Agnes gave birth to a son in April, 1901, in Karnten, 14 months prior to immigrating. This son, Val Watzin, my Granddad, did not emigrate until around 1908. The name I have always known him by is Valentine Watzin, but I doubt this was the name given him at birth. Help!!!! Thanks!!

In case it's helpful to your research, there was a family death notice published for a Valentin Watzin (70 yrs.) in Milwaukee's German language newspapers.

This is indexed in the collection: "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items", covering 1844-1950. Like many valuable research resources, neither the newspapers, nor the index are online.
