My gr-gr-grandfather was William Parry, b. 5-2-1844, Treforest, Glamorgan. He married Martha Frances Lewis, b. 11-15-1854, also Treforest, Glamorgan. I have their death certificates which gives their dates of birth, but they only list Wales as place of birth. The 1881 census for Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, England gives their place of birth as Treforest. Maybe we have a connection? Williams father was also a William, not sure of his mother's name yet, I believe it was Leah but I still have to confirm. Martha's father was Philip Lewis and her mother was Mary. William and Martha Parry ended up in Niles (Warren), Ohio in 1890s where they remained. They had children: William Philip Parry, Ed Parry, Lewis Parry, Leah Hannah Parry, and another daughter. If you think we might have a connection, please reply. Marti.

My grandmother was Jane Parry who married David Lewis. They had 11 children together and all were born in Mertha Tydvil (including my grandmother . Not too sure about the info with respect to my grandmother but I do have some family history. I would think that since your Parry family came from Mertha and my Parry family came from Mertha, there must be some common family members?? I know that I have Williams in my family. Anything ring a bell.

sorry for the delay in answering. I do not have any addtional information on the Parry line as far as my Ann's parents, siblings, etc. Do your dates for Jane compare to Ann's? The family came to America on the USS Idaho in 1869. Ann's husband, Evan Watkins apparently died in Wales and many of her children stayed behind as well. Ann and Evan were married in Merythr 11 June 1832. You can email me directly at ynkstlrw@ptd.net. Williams is my married name. My husbands grandfather, John E Williams was born 1868, I believe in the Swansea area of Wales. His parents are unknown. John came over as a boy, haven't figured out when. His parents never came to US. Again sorry for the delay. Hope this helps.

In case you're interested, I have several instances of Parry's in my family tree.It starts with Gabriel Parry, who was Head Master of Ruthin School in Wales..dies 1661..He was married to Mary Price..Their only son William married a Catharine Holland in 1643 (she died in 1703)..They had 2 children David (who died without heir) and Susanne who married a John Roberts of Place (this is circa 1640-1700)..It would seem that the Roberts and Parry's had something going because in the next generation Catherine Roberts married Humphrey Parry of Pwll-halog (this is circa 1720-1760)..This union had two sons..Roger Parry (died in 1800)..married with a son David who was a rector (no birth/death)..the other son Humphrey had a son Richard, who by this time was no longer in Wales but in Cambridge, England (this is circa 1800-1820)..He was married to a Miss ??? Thomas whose father was the Master of Exeter College in Cambridge..They had one son Richard (circa 1820-1850) and the Parry line comes to an end on our tree.
I don't know if this will help or hinder your search on the Parry lineage.
