I am looking for info on my ggggggrandfather.
Will appreciate any help anyone can give me.
Simon RUFFENER came over on the Loyal Judith to
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, with his family.
They sailed from Rotterdam by way of Cowes, England.
He arrived at the 7th hour in September 2, 1743.
His wife's name was (Mary) Barbara SCHULTZ (or SCHILTZ)
and they had three children before they sailed.
Names of the children were Phillip, Christian and Mary.
Simon II was born either aboard the Loyal Judith
or upon arrival in Philadelphia.
It is thought that they lived in the Austrian Tyrol.

Am pretty sure Simon is the G'pa of my Anna Margaret Ruffner b. 1-4-1777, who married Peter Bridge 6-1-1802. Trouble is I haven't been able to find which of his sons was her father. I know it wasn't Philip. Think Christian and Peter settled in Westmoreland. PA (as found in "Sportsmanshall"). But don't know which it would be. Seems Mathias Bruck sold his property to Christian and then moved to western PA. Mathias is Peter Bridges father. Anna Margaret was born in Northampton, PA. Sure would appreciate any help. Pat

I am also a Ruffner descended from Simon and Barbara. Was looking through my info and I found an Anna Margaret Ruffner born 11/18/1777 to Simon Ruffner and Catherine Griffin. She married a John Edward Smythe. Not much help but that is all I could find. Have you checked the Goshenhoppen Registers. They are quite helpful as to the listing of many births of Ruffners.

I am not sure about getting certified copies. I know that you can check with the Pa Archives in Harrisburg. I have not gotten far enough to do the certification thing. One of my grandfathers was Philip and I know that he was in the Rev War. I contacted the DAR and they did confirm that for me but I still have not gotten anything together to send to join the DAR. The Goshenhoppen registers are on rootsweb and also in Ancestry. If I were you my first step would be to check with the archives. Very nice people there and they may be able to point you in the right direction.

PA archives will be my first stop. Thanks. I had my first meeting with the DAR on Mon. All items obtained over the computor, especially others Gedcom are looked upon with suspicion. They frown on anything from Salt Lake. All must be certified-birth- marriage, etc. certificates; but not the origianal , a copy of said certified. One has to obtain info from books directly and from ceme, ie, St. Vincents. Birth certificates not available b4 1906.

Had the date of Anna Margaret's birth wrong. It's June 7, 1778. Can you tell me more? Where in Northampton did they live? Where are they buried? Did all the sons become farmers? I guess, I'm interested in what them who they were. Thanks, Pat
