Sobek in Vienna, Austria

Surnames: Sobek
According to my Father, the Sobek Family broke into 3 branches. One stayed in the present day Czech Republic, one moved to the Berlin, Germany, area, and finally one moved to Vienna, Austria.

Supposedly, this was a Baron Sobek, who was given title and castle by, I believe, Frederick the Great, or is it Franz-Josef. He was given the the job of Police Chief of Vienna. I believe that the title was given because of his outstanding service as Police Chief.

My Father conversed with some descendants before World War II, and they were still in Vienna.

If anybody has any information on any of the comments above, I would greatly appreciate it. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need complimentary information.

I have included my web pages. This site is currently under construction so please bear with me.

Dear Ralph:

I´m really interested in this post. In this moment I´m finding out about the Baron Sobek´s family, who got married with a russian Baroness Inna Somova. I know they had a child Czeslaw or Vyacheslav. After the WWII, they moved to Vienna, Austria, and the family came originally from Chezkslovaquia.

If you have some information, or show me the way where I can start my research, I would be happy.

Thank you.

Juan Pablo
