Looking for family of David L. SISK and Annie
SISK, (both died in 1965.)
Jessie S.(Sisk) Watson is my grandmother,
(Died in 1974.)
She graduated from Harrisburg High School in
1923 or 1924. The Sisk's and Watsons both
owned property on the same mountain in
Maddisonville, KY. I dont know how or when
they ended up in Illionois. Does anyone have
info in their family tree about them?
There is an Irene Sisk in my grandmothers
yearbook, she could possibly a cousin.
Please help!

Hiya Lesley

If David and Annie Sisk died in Harrisburg IL
chances are that the local news paper is going to
have an obit on them. Failing that, call some of
the funeral homes in town and ask them to check their
records. (they keep stuff like this)

If grandma Jessie went to school in Harrisburg and graduated
in the 20's... shes going to be listed on the 1910 and 20 census
as a child in Davids??? household? Her age will be listed, along
with any siblings they have... it should also tell you where (at least what state)
she was born in. If its KY... then write the vital statistics office
and request a copy of her birth certificate.

You can also check the 1880 census for Hopkins Co. KY
for David as a child in someones household.. if you find him
(and from what youve indicated so far you probably will) it will
give his parents names as well as his sibs... After that..
it gets a good deal easier... Ive got a good bit of info
about Sisks in Hopkins Co. (the husband is from there.....
btw.. there arent any mountains in Madisonville... hills yes!... and PLENTY of
strip mines!) and Ill be happy to share what I have.

Let me hear from you

I'm not sure if there is a connection but my great grandmother was Beula Sisk from Harrisburg Ill. She married John Richard Mortz. I have pictures of them all and included there is an Uncle Dewey Watson and I think he was married to someone named Ethal. Beula Had 5 kids. Her family was somehow connected to the Old Slave House in Harrisburg. Beulas dad was Henery Sisk. There is also a Hubret sisk in these pictures I have.I think Beula also had a brother named Ben.. there is a Jack Sisk too. Maybe there is a connection here in this line. if you think there may be. Please write or post it. I will E-mail you pictures.

Lesley,
I don't know if we have the same Jack Sisk but theres a very good chance we do.
The Jack Sisk I'm talking about was Jessie Jackson Sisk.(aka JAck).
His siblings were ,Lillie Mae Sisk(Cowan),Benjamin Sisk, Opal Sisk(Watson), Heubert Sisk, Beulah Sisk(Mortz)(Hudgins), Ethal Sisk(Lee), And MAry Sisk (Sandefer).
Jack MArried a woman by the name of Nancy and they had several children. I know a few of their names , Jack jr, Mary, and Connie Sisk (BAtes). There was a few more children but I don't know their names off hand.
They lived in Saliene county Ill. until 1956 when they moved to California. Connie Sisk(Bates)(Who I recently found) Still lives in California as does Vernie Cowan, Lillie Mae Sisk(Cowans) son.
Hopefully there is a link here. I'd love to share pictures with you so I' inviting you to our family website at Myfamily.com. If you would like , you can email Connie (
Sisk)Bates and see if she can give you more info, after all, Jack Sisk was her father. You can reach her at:
crlbbates@aol.com
I'd love to hear back from you, email me anytime and you will be getting an invitation soon.
By the way, who were your parents??????
Thanks, Michelle Mortz
