Looking for information on Lucas Smolei and Maria Kek who were married in 1773 in Radice/Ratece, Slovenia. The church records indicate that they came from what is now Austria. Would like to contact anyone researching Smole.

I would recommend posting the same query on Slovenia's board.

Hello,
i have many people with the name Smole in my family tree. But there is no Lucas Smole. Primus Smole, the earliest one in this root, was born appr. 1650

Ratece is a slovenian village near the Austrian border to Carinthia and the area where my Smole's were living.

Hi There,

I am looking for Mary Smole, who maried John Marincic, from Slovenia(near Austria). She emigrated to the US around 1900.

Any relation?

Best Regards,
Michael Thrupp

Mary would not be a close relative - Jacob Smole came from Smarje-Sap

one of my childhood friends was Jim Marinic

victor,

I am also happy to do research on the Marincic line, but I am having trouble tacking down genealogy on them.

Any ideas? Do you know of a Marincic from Slovenia I could contact?

Best Regards,
Michael Thrupp

Hi,

I am also looking for a Mary Smole, Slovenia, married circa 1900. They apparently came from lubjlana, a village near the austrian border. They emigrated to Ohio and had eleven children by the last name Marincic(or Marinsic).

Best Regards,
Michael Thrupp

This could be Ljubljana, the capital of the Republic of Slovenia. In this case, the place would not be a village near the Austrian border, though.

now, it was austrian at that time, because the today Slovenia was in old times the crownland Krain (Carniola) of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.

I am following up on your reply to me last year.

You said you had Smole's in your family tree back to 1650. When were they living in Ratece? Do you have any information about where they lived before they came to Ratece.

Lucas Smole is said to have been born about 1753 and was living ex Ratece 34 after marriage in about 1773. Their first two children were born there and the next three in Wurzen. From there the next generations went to Assling, Jesenize.
