Does anyone know anything about Knights Mountain outside of Castleisland. My grandmother was Mary Curtin, and I believe all her family was from there. I never hear it mentioned by anybody else.

Hello Ann,
Did you find out about your grandmother? I'm from Knightsmountain. When was your grandmother born?

I also have ancestors from Knights Mountain mostly the townland of Meenganeir/Muingvautia but they use to say they were Knights Mountain. Aherne, Cremins, Murphy of Meenganaire are all ancestors of mine.

No, I never heard anything back. I don't know what year my grandmother was born. It would have been in the 1800's. I think she died in the 1940's or 1950's.
She was Mary Curtin and she married John O'Connor. They lived in Castleisland and had 15 children.
I have a first cousin living now in Castleisland on Tralee Road.

In the Kerry parish records online at
there is amarriage in Castleisland R.c.parish for a John O Connor and Mary Curtin 2 Mar 1867. See link
Mary Curtin's father is given as Timothy Connor. Is this the family you are interested in? If it is there is a baptism of a Mary Curtin 11 Jul 1847 parents Timothy Curtin and Mary Riordan address Ballynahan which is very similar to the address given for Mary Curtin on her marriage.
Hope this is of use.
