I am Judy from Comanche Texas. My grt. grand mother was
Sarah Ann Elizabeth Lasswell. She was born in Limestone Co. Texas, near Mexia ( ME-Hay-eh. We know her folks were from Kentucky. There are some tales told of two brothers
who came into port in KY prior to 1755 or about there.
It's said that some of our folks were at the great Christmas Conference in Boston when John Wesley returned to America after the Revolutionary War and formed the Methodist Church in America. That they knew Cokesbury. And maybe met Thomas Jefferson. Could any of this be true?
Any info appreciated. Judy Lunsford - klunsford@itexas.net

Did the Lasswells operate a ford across Goose Creek, and if so, where was it? I'm researching Joseph Power(s) and Henry Taylor, evidently neighbors, and I'm trying to pin down where they lived.

Thanks.

Per my CD on Index to the 1782-1850 Loudoun Co Personal Property Tax Lists, per 1800 time period:
Joseph Power lived in the Third Battalion [between the first & second, including Leesburg, the second battalion being east of Goose Creek]
Henry Taylor lived in the First Battalion [the northwest corner of the county from Catoctin Creek to Hamilton to Clark’s Gap to White’s Ferry.

There is no land deed for any Joseph Power, but there is this for Henry Taylor, from my book Index to Loudoun Co Land Deed Books A-Z, 1757-1800:

Bk:Pg: U:112 Date: 16 Aug 1792 Received in court: 11 Sep 1792
Charles Earl of Tankerville and Henry Astley BENNETT of Great Britain to Joseph & Henry TAYLOR of Loudoun. Bargain and sale of 61ac at Currans Spring Branch adj Andrew SPRING. Wit: Rd. BRADEN, John DAVIS.

Thank you for this helpful information. I've not seen the personal property lists yet, so this is a welcome addition to my growing store of knowledge. The land deed is too late for my Henry Taylor (this is probably his son), but I appreciate your sending that to me as well.

Greetings: I am interesting in Elias Laswell (etc), found about 1773 on the PPTL of Loudoun Co VA; might have been in Hampshire Co. thereafter and finally by the 1790s in Washington Co VA where his supposed several children (Sarah, Andrew, William, John, et al) lived. His daughter, Sarah Lazwell married Thomas Colley there in Washington Co VA in the 1790s. Thanks. Jack Hockett tlas101@aol.com

Thanks muchissimo; I sort of lose Elias Lasswell after Loudoun unless he is the one in Hampshire Co VA listed Lacefield (as I recall) in 1790, but in Washington Co VA shortly after that... his daughter, Sarah Lazwell, married Thomas Colley there in early 1790s. Jack
