Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of
STATES by Harry E. Eckles? It was published
about 50 years ago, and was followed up
with a sequel by Nell Woods Black. I would
very much like to have access to both books.

For Eckels book: try microfilm book at a LDS (Morman) family history library.

Thanks. I will try the Family History
Library. They obtained the microfiche
of Betsy Echols Terry with some information,
but not what I need. Will keep trying...

The film number for the book is 896,576 item 1. Another filming is on microfilm 872,805 item 10. I believe that the film includes the later supplement. Note that I found this information online at -- I hope I transcribed it correctly.

Thanks, Eleanor. I have ordered the micro-
films through our local Family History Center
at the Morman church. Help of any kind is
much appreciated--let me know if I can supply
any information for you. -Bob Echols

I could not tell who you were replying tgo about having both Eckles books but if you would help me it would be greatly appreciated. Could I have the names and authors of the two Eckles books you have? My ancestor was Jane Eckles or Echols who was born about 1779 possibly in NC but I am not sure about that. I have searched for years trying to find who her parents were. She married Solomon Ray in 1796 in Wilkes co Georgia. Jane might have been her middle name. Her parents obviously were from Ga which I don't think they were or they went to Ga from another state. If you have time would you look in your books and see if possibly you can find Eckles or Echols that went to Ga before 1796? There was an Edward eckles that lived very close to Solomon Ray and Jane in Wilkes co Ga in the 1790's. He died in 1823 in Wilkes co Ga. He was from Va originally. Thanks, Ross
