I'm looking for the descendants of Jan (or John -if he had anglicised his name)Karp, originally from Krasnybor, Poland. He was born sometime between 1900 and 1910. His parents'names were Jozef Karp and Franciszka Orzechowska. He also had three siblings back in Poland.Any information on Jan or his descendants in America will be appreciated. Beata Bryceland

My mothers fathers name was Michael John Karp. He was born in Germany and fled world war 1 to the US. Came here in the early 1900's. He came to michigan and then to northern Ohio. Lived there the rest of his life. I know little of his life in Germany and am trying to find out more. If you think any of this relates please write. I have pictures on my page if you would like to see him.

Hi, Sorry to take so long in getting back to you. My grandmother has just informed me that Joseph was in deed her grandfathers name but sometimes went by the name Stanley in the 1870-1890's.He married a woman my grandmother thinks named Anna and her father was born in the year of 1891 which may be wrong because of the name change that may also have been. She believes he had a brother named Fedo ( Fedrick in english ) plus a brother Michael and a sister-inlaw named Catharina. And that her fathers name was not Jan but Iwan which he changed when they fled from Glaicia through Danzig. He married a Lady named Ywdokha Dobaiasky ( my grandmother thinks she maybe an orphan because we can find no information at all on her) which my grandmother just told me could be her first but my be her middle name. My grandmother has said they lived under the Austro-Hungarian monarchy from some place named Abompia ( I have not been able to locate this place.) She stressed to me that his family had fleed 3 different places. Her father Iwan was in the Austrin military. Her name is Katarzyna or Kasunya we have never located a birth certificate for her or them. Sorry to fix this a few times it's a lot of strange info of non-exsistant people ( that is what this seems like at times ) Hope this helps
