I am looking for information about the Owenby/Owensby family line that originated in Tenn. and moved to the Dallas and Laclede Counties in Missouri. My great grandmother's name is Stella May Owensby (married Henson)[BD 12-1881} whose parents' names are Angeline Butcher Owensby and Lorenzo Dow Owensby. I have newspaper clippings found in family stuff that lists a Don W. Owensby as running for Congressand his father was a J. W. Owensby {abt. BD 1874]. I am trying to find out how these two link together as well as any info about the Owensbys of Missouri. I am posting this notice on BOTH Owenby and Owensby message boards as they are linked families. And I have alot of information about Amos and Mary Surrin Ownbey from Tenn. from Sevier, Tenn. during the 1830s.

Catherine Ownby married John Edgar in 1851. They are my great grandparents. In the process of tracing them back, I think, to Johnie Ownby and Nannie Porter, I get stymied in the Powell Stamper Ownby morass. Can you clear this up?? Many thanks, Geo
