Custer county. My grandmother was always talking about growing up in Custer county. Her husband was Ivan. She was a Brown who's father was a mine attorney I believe (I don't remember his name). She had two sisters Hazel and another I don't recall. Her mother was a O'Halleran (sp?) from New Orleans. Her parents moved to Challis after their tin shop burned down. I believe they ran or lived in a hotel with their daughter and son-in-law. My grandmother's name was Helen Blume (Brown) and they had three boys. Milt and Ted and Ray. The name of a fellow names Jewels Blume I think came up a number of times. Any info on the Blume's, Brown's or O'Halleran's would be greatly appreciated.

Ted: If you don't have copies of these poems, would be glad to send them to you. Barbara Hammond has more information in Challis on the family. Also the Challis Messenger, old issues gave us obituaries, etc. I talked with your grandmother on the phone once and she sounded like a remarkable lady of which I am sure she was. Not many like her left in our area. Rose

She was quite the poet! Later she wrote quite a few stories and was painting.

She was the dau of Julius Ferdinand Blume b Nov 30 1841 in Germany d Jun 24 1921 in Challis, Custer, ID and Rosena Thompson. Other children of Julius and Rosena Thompson Blume were: Amalia Blume b Sep 11 1865 in WI; Albert Fredrick Blume b May 30 1867 in MN; Florentina Amanda Blume b Jun 19 1869 in MN; Minnie Louisa Blume b Feb 21 1874 in MN; Agnes Ida Blume b Mar 8 1876 in MN; Julius O. Julius Ferdinand and Rosena Thompson Blume were in Custer co ID in the 1910 census, along with their son Frederick and his family, and another son Julius O. Some of the married daughters may have been there also, but I don't have any of their spouses names.

Does any of this familiar to anyone?

I have quite a bit of information about the Blume family and know two cousins that can give you more on Eby. But, first where did you get the last name of Thompson for Rosena?
Her father's name was Konrad Dumser and mother was Louisa Alcide Thomassin.

You might try my uncle Ted. His address is:
Ted Blume
304 E. 4th St
Emmett, ID 83617

His mother (my grandmother) was Helen Blume who was married to Ivan who was a son of Frederick.

The only source I have to this date is from the World Family Tree Vol 13 Tree 291. This is a line I'm doing for a friend and he had no information, so whatever we get we use to point us on :) Perhaps from the info you showed someone picked up her mother's maiden name (Thomassin/Thompson) instead of Dumser. I'd love to hear what you have and to have contact with the others you spoke about. Thanks for responding.
