I have read a few of your messages and find errors in them. First, I am the grand-daughter of Thalis and Omah Mitchell Cook. My grandmother delivered me into this world. Her name is Omah Mitchell Cook, not Omah Ledah Cook. Your grandfather was Ernest James Cook. He was married to Dora Lois Boysten Cook. They had three children (my first cousins) Marion Elizabeth, Karen Arlene and Franklin Winston James. Frank is the only one living. He is your uncle. My brother Leonard Thalis called me and we talked for about an hour this evening. I probably know more about the Mitchell and Cook side of the family than any one. I will be happy to share all this information with you. My cousin Lavern Holloman who is 75 years old also knows just about as much as I do...she has shared a lot of information with me. She is the granddaughter of Emma Cook Kinnebrew, the first cousin to your grandfather.
I remember your mother, she was a very beautiful woman. I have a lovely picture of her when she was in her early teens.
I think the world of Frank Cook, he is just a wonderful person!
Let me hear from you. I can trace the James Collins Cook family (father of Thalis Cook) back to Alabama, and other members back to the Republic of Texas. The information I have comes directly from family members such as Thalis's sisters and his relatives.
The Mitchell's came to New Mexico just after the Civil War. I have a picture of Dyre Mitchell (Omah's Father) on my dining room table. He was an early miner in the Mogollon,New Mexico aea. They also have an interesting history.

Sincerely, Omah Ledah Martin Desmare

You mention your cousin Laverne. Back in the mid 1980's I was in contact with Cherryll Tenney Cook (wife of Willie Walter "Bill" Cook, first cousin of Emma L.) Bill died in 1988, after that I lost touch with Cherryll. I was wondering if you or Laverne still have contact with Cherryll.

Cherryll and I were working on Bill's grandparents James C Cook and Lucinda Jane Cox (daug of Hugh Cox and Sarah Turnbough/Turnbow/Turnbeau). Bill's parents were Isaac "Ike" Cook b 1882 (twin to Ida) and Ora C Tynes b 1896.

Ms. Desmare
I am very interested in sharring James Collins Cook family history with you.
Please contact me as I beleive James C. Cook who died in Eddy NM in 1912 was the brother of my Great-Grandfather John E. Cook. I have much information on the Cooks (many Texas Rangers and two strong Billy the Kid connections)

Yes, I am the Great-grandson of John E. Cook of the Uvalde, Tx. Cook family. As you may know brothers John & James and half-brother Thalis T. Cook were Texas Rangers as was one son of John's (Enoch Cook). I have documented several brother-in-laws who were also Rangers. I am very interested in knowing more about the James C. Cook family. I have several good pictures of John Cook, Margaret (Cook) Dolan, Capt. Pat Dolan and Thalis T. Cook. Do you have any pictures of James or the other children of David, or know someone who has?
