I know this is a long shot, but I am seeking information on a person identified as Istvanne Toth.

This is her married last name, I do not know her maiden name. Date of birth is about 1882. I know that she emmigrated to the United States in August 1910 aboard the SS Carpathia, sailing from Naples, Italy. She was accompanied by three chilrdren, Janos (infant), Barbara (age 3), and Elisabeth (age 6). She is identified as "wife" but was not travelling with her husband...her final destination was Detroit, Michigan.

After that the trail ends.

I believe Istvanne is my Great, Great, Grandmother (maternal) and I am trying to learn more about our family history...

Any connections?

They were going to Stepan TOTH 21 West End Avenue Detroit

Istvanne [Mrs. Istvan] was in USA in 1908 as well as Elisabeth. If that is the case then she was naturalized citizen and or the couple married in USA since one child is listed as being born in USA.

Let me help you out...

Toth is the surname

Istvanne is merely the way married women were/are addressed. In English it is equivalent to saying Mrs. Steven Toth

Istvan = Steven or Stephen or English. You have no reference to the first name of your ancestor nor last name before her marriage. btw: Toth is a very common name in Hungarian.

Hope this helps.
