Rhea W. Schwendiman, 100, of Twin Falls, passed away Friday Dec. 4, 1998, at the Desert Rose Retirement Estate in Twin Falls.
Rhea was born Sept. 15,1898, at Rexburg, to Agnes and Timothy Winter. She had recently celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and friends.
Rhea graduated from high school in Rexburg and then attended Ricks College. She married Rulon J. Schwendiman on March 10, 1920. Rulon and Rhea had three daughters, Ruth, Jeanne and Shirlee.
Rhea was one of the original members of the Blue Lakes Country Club, and served as president of the BLCC Ladies Golf Association. She was also a member of the Twentieth Century Club, and was a Pink Lady at the Magic Valley Hospital. She was one of the founders of the Twin Falls Music Club.
Rhea was an avid golfer and bridge player. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Rhea is survived by her daughter, Ruth Jenkins of Twin Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Charles Rountree of Boise; daughter and son-in-law, Shirlee and Ken Straughn of Twin Falls; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Rulon; her twin sister, Ruth; two other sisters, and five brothers.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Desert Rose for the wonderful care and love they provided to our mom, grandma and great-grandma.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. today at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls. Private family interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Twin Falls.
