John HUNTER b. abt 1775 lived in Buncombe Co, NC. Children were Andrew, Jason Henderson, William Johnson, Martha, and Harriet. John Hunter moved to Union CO, GA in 1830's. Jason Henderson Hunter moved back to McDowell Co, NC and married a Sherrill. Does anyone have info that connects to John Hunter? I am searching for the mother of these children.

Hi Betty,
My ggg grandfather was Richard Hunter born 1805 in North Carolina. There is a record of two marriages in Haywood County, North Carolina. First to Ruthey Millender in 1827, and second to Sarah Roof in 1839. Richard had five children by each wife. The family moved to Union County, Georgia about 1847. There seems to be some similarities between your line and mine. Do you know of any connection?

Hello Ron,

My gggrandmother Mary Susannah HUNTER was your Richard's sister. She married my gggfather Armor KELLEY (Kelly) in Haywood County in 1829. Their marriage record shows his name as Amos.

Here is what I have so far regarding Richard and Susannah's 2 additional sisters:

Mary Susannah, Rebecca, Anna, and Richard HUNTER were brother and sister's. All were married in Haywood County.

Mary Susannah HUNTER married Armor KELLEY of Old Fort.
Anna HUNTER married Frederick (Fed) MESSER.
Rebecca HUNTER married Jeremiah GREEN.
Richard HUNTER married twice; first to Ruthie MILLENDER
and second to Sarah ROOF.

Rebecca and Jeremiah GREEN went to Texas.
Mary Susannah and Armor went to Union County Georgia around 1834/35.
Richard and Sarah went to Union County Georgia.
Anna and Frederick MESSER stayed in Haywood.

Can anyone relate these individuals back to their parentage?

Please let me know what you have on this HUNTER line.

best regards,

Greg

I see John Hunter living a few farms away from Rueben Kelley and a dozen or so farms from Alexander Kelley/Kelly in the 1820 Burke co census. This is two pages from Hirum Kelly who most have as Armer Kelleys father. If Suzannah Hunter is related to John Hunter that would answer some questions for sure. Does anyone know how old John Hunter is?
