I remember my grandfather telling me about Dillinger family that I would have in Ohio, that changed the spelling of their name to Dellinger. I emailed my mother and will repost as soon as she gets me the information. Just wanted to let you know that someone actually knew about this. I'll be sure to keep in touch. Amy

To Amy, Do you know what part of Ohio you are refering to? My family came from Adams Co. Mid-1800's. I have seen the name spelled several different ways. Please reply soon you may have a link I'm looking for.

Are you referring to Adams Co., Pa? I would like to see your lineage back as far as you have traced it. Do you connect into the descendants of the 1733 immigrant, Jacob Dellinger, who settled in York Co, Pa?

To Kay, I'm trying to determine if my William Dillinger born in 1849 in Ohio is related to the Dillingers that I found in Adams County, Ohio (George, Jonathan and David in 1805-1850). Since the courthouse burned it's difficult to find that exact link, but the earliest definite census that I have definitely identified William Dillinger was in 1880 in Iowa and he lists his birth place as Ohio and he is listed with a brother, George W. Dillinger born in 1842 in Ohio. The only family that matches up in Dillinger families in Ohio is Jonathan Dillinger in Adams County. If I'm not related to the Adams County Dillingers, I have a great deal of research to share with someone that is. I can be reached at sailor803@comcast.net. Cheryl Schwartz
