Thomas Frank Harney - Civil War

The Thomas Frank Harney I'm searching enlisted in the Confederate forces at Harrisonville, Cass county, Missouri, at age 23 (in
1861). He was with the 6th MO Infantry. On his enlistment papers he shows he was born in Blair county, Pennsylvania, and his occupation was a teacher. (He is not
the same person as the Thomas Harney Sr. who lived in Lexington, Lafayette county, Missouri, and served in the local militia).

Thomas Frank Harney was involved in the Confederate Secret Service and was a dynamite expert. I'm trying to locate him after
the war, and also to locate his parents and/or family.

Anyone with information, please contact me.

Dear Ms. McDonald,
Have you any new information on T.F. Harney/Harnsey/Harvey since your 2000 posting to this message board? I, too, am searching for his whereabouts after the war. Is he related to William Selby Harney?
Valerie

Hi Valerie,

I don't have info on Thomas Frank Harney but I do believe we are connected on the Metlzer side.

I am the cousin of Larry, Sophia and Jeff Metzler. I think Larry and Sopia attended one of your Metzler reunions. I think I have had correspondence with you a few years ago. I tried contacting you on e-mail a while ago but it did not go through.

What is your ancesteral line from Valentine? We Pittsburgh Metzlers are descended from his son Henry who was married to Esther Bowman. (second wife. first was Mary or Mollie Landis)

We had our 35th reunion in July. We held it at North Park, Allegheny County, Pa. We were honored to have a couple attend from Columbus Ohio. Barbara Metzler Dibler and her husband Joe. It was great meeting them and I think they may attend next year. She is a descendent of Valentine's oldest son Abraham. I met her on the internet, invited her and she attended. It was wonderful. Maybe next year you can attend. We always have the reunion on the last Sunday of July and all Metzlers are welcome. Good company, good food and lots of love.

I have almost exhausted my Metzler geneology unless I venture into Switzerland. I don't know where to begin on that. Maybe if enough Metzlers are willing to chip in we could pay a professional to explore the lineage of Valentine into Switzerland. It would be exciting. This hobby gets into your blood and you are always searching for more.

Keep in touch and let me know where you are on your line.

Joanne

Dear Joanne,
I am descended from Valentine's son, Abraham and his wife, Christina Groff. I AM a professional archivist/historian, hence my inquiry for a client for Harvey.
Please contact me off this message board about Metzler history.
