I am not sure if this will help, but there is a George Shires b. abt 1818 in England (married with children) that is listed in the 1860 NYS Census for Waterford, Saratoga Co., NY. There is also a George Shires listed in Troy, Rennselaer Co., NY and a George Shirs in Halfmoon, Saratoga, Co. NY in the 1850 Census. None listed in the 1840 Census. There are also a three George Shires buried in the Waterford Rural Cemetery, all of which died after 1860. The George Shires from the 1860 census is not listed in the 1870 NYS census index in Waterford, but his son is at age 26.
There is also a William C. Shires d. 8/8/1892 and buried in Waterford, Saratoga Co., NY, poss. from England and the son of George and Elizabeth Shires (also written as Shines in records) who settled in Waterford in 1842. He is listed in the 1870 NYS census index as age 53. I am attempting to find a connection between George Shires and William Shires with Edward Shires who came from Warwickshire England in 1832 at age 12 with persons unknown.
