Hi Sammie,
I am descended through John Ashworth III's sister Margaret, but I would still be interested in knowing the children of John III and Elizabeth if you wouldn't mind sharing. I have Jasper Ray and now Sarah L. Also, do you know Elizabeth's maiden name?

Thanks Lisa for responding.
Since last posting, other researchers have shared Ashworth data with me and through the process of elimination it has been determined that Jason Ashworth of Buncombe Co., NC was an uncle of my Sarah L Ashworth. Sarah's parents were John Ashworth III and wife Elizabeth. I have the same parent and children information for Jason Ashworth as you do.

I have a Jason Ashworth in my database. He was born 1807 in Buncombe Co. NC and married Lucinda UNKNOWN. He had at least 8 children, one of whom was a Sarah J. Ashworth b. 1848 in Missouri. Of course, I have not proven this yet. Jason's parents were John and Celia Nettles Ashworth.

Does anybody in Buncombe County, NC recall a Edith Ashworth. She married William P Taylor in Scott County Va in 1847. I'm positive that her family was in the VA, NC, TN or KY census, but I have no clue as to what Ashworth family she belonged to. Any thought? I've been searching full time for this one person, my gggggrandmother, for several years. I NEED HELP PEOPLE! (ooops! sorry for yelling.) John Ashworth III is one of my ancestors. Do you know who he was married to? His son John was my great grandfather's father. Do you see where anyone was married to a Mary Merrill? Where John and Jasper Ray brothers?

In my tree I found a Mary Merrill b. 1808 d. 1850 in North Carolina. I have an Unknown Barnett as her husband. Her parents were William Merrill and Elizabeth Ashworth Merrill. Elizabeth's parents were John and Nancy Wood Ashworth. John Ashworth III's wife, I have as just Elizabeth, with no maiden name. Their son John Wood and Jasper Ray were brothers, yes. Other siblings I have for them are Mary A., Rachel, Celia C., Phillip P., and Elizabeth D. The family names Nancy, John, Celia, Elizabeth, and Jasper were used repeatedly through out the Ashworth history.

Have you tried Find A Grave? There are several Edith Taylors on there, most without their maiden names. They are from all over the US. I did not try Edith Ashworth Taylor, so perhaps that would narrow it down for you. Just google Find A Grave and it will find it for you. The only Edith Ashworth that I found in my tree was born and died in Kansas. Good Luck.
