My father Paul Lally was in Sacred Heart Orphanage from about 1940-45. He is looking for people who were there at the same time, especially "Harold" (he can't remember his last name), who was his best friend. The two of them ran away from Sacred Heart to Paul's mother's house in Newark. Then Harold was sent away to another orphanage. If anyone out there remembers Harold or my dad, please e-mail me. My dad doesn't have a computer so I'm posting for him on his behalf.

My dad's name was John Edward Weiant and he had a younger brother named Harold I believe. We know nothing about Harold and I cannot find anything on the computer about him. Dad was in the orphanage about 1920 or so. Since I do not know how old Harold was I don't know what year he was in the orphanage. If your Dad can remember Harold's last name or if was even close to Weiant, let me know. They also had a sister and another brother. Her name is Jean now and his name was William.

Hi I dont know if this is still an active thread but I have been doing research on my family and my father is John Michael Dougherty. He was at Sacred Heart around this time. He was brn 1938 and there until about 12-13 when he was moved to Boystown. Anyone have any more information or links where to go I would appreciate it.

Casey,
I was in SHO with a kid named Michael Dougherty. BUT he was born 10 years later. We were in SHO up until early sixties.
You might try Boystown or Catholic Charity's.
Good Luck
