This church's first pastor was Rev. Jacob Gibson md. Judith Napper. The church first went by Gibson's Meeting House.
The church was active from 1771 and before, and minutes from 1794-1820 are available on microfilm.. Sent this message to Bobby Rawls himself, and perhaps he will report back to us if he gets the minutes.

Is Little River Baptist Church the same as Broad River Bapt. organized by the Sabbatarian Baptist from PA by Victor Neely and John Owens?

It appears you never posted the transcription of this book, and you have deleted the Fairfield, South Carolina Families webpages.

I, and I'm sure others, would be very interested in this transcription.

The Little River of Broad River Church was founded/first minister my husband's ancestor Jacob Gibson. He was from Virginia and married to Judith Napier, d/o Robert Napier and Mary Hughes. Jacob was born an Aglican, but baptised early by the Reverends Marshall and Mulkey according to Morgan Edwards, who wrote some on this and other Baptist churches established in the infancy of Baptists in the south. I believe at one time the early minutes of the church was on this website. Jacob Gibson died in 1793 in Fairfield Dist., SC. I am not sure who the minister was after that but also early was Rev. Marshall McGraw. It appears that Gibson traveled south from Va. with John Kennerly, Solomon McGraw and others from early deeds there.

I have more history if you would e-mail me at rufuskin@bellsouth.net

Carol, I am sorry that no one ever replied to your question, as I would like to know the answer, too. However, I think, from the little I know about the Broad River Sabbatarian Church, that it was founded much earlier. The date I have seen is 1754. Have you read Leah Townsend's book _South Carolina Baptists_? It has the most on this church I have found. I descend from Victor Neely.
