1916 Alberta census shows the Eggen family living at 45-2-4 Merton in the Battle River District.Exactly where is or was the Merton district of Battle River.

The Master Surname Index (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists some 50 EGGAN names including these.

Hans EGGAN, 1861 - 1953
Alvina EGGEN, 1895 - 1935
Even EGGAN, 1898 - 1954
Magna EGGEN, 1901 - 1936
all buried in the Zion Lutheran cemetery at McLaughlin at Section 20 township 45 range 1 west of 4.

The Castor Museum has a map with schools and post offices flagged. Lots of these now-unknown neighbourhoods around Castor refer to closed schools and post offices. Can't guarantee it lists Merton.
