Need information on William Henry James Pye and his wife Letitia nee Pye.
W.H.J. was born prior to July 1837 supposedly in the County of Middlesex, London, U.K.
Would like the birthdates of both and locality of the events.
All information on the ancestry of W.H.J. and his wife would be appreciated.
I have limited knowledge of their descendants. Would appreciate any additional information
regarding these people.
Regards, donpee.

I have been trying to trace my family history for some time now. I believe the William Pye that you are looking for may be the son of William Charles Pye who was born in 1808. He may well be the Elder brother who I know existed but cannot find any information on, of Catherine Pye born 1840, Henry Pye born 1851. They lived in Nelson Terrace, Islington North London at the time where William Charles Pye was a mathmatical instrument maker. If you have any further information I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Greetings Robert. You have almost struck the jackpot. W.H.J. aws indeed the son of William Charles = Catherine SMITH. W.C. had at least one married sister, Sarah AUSTIN. The children of W.C. and Catherine were as follows:- Susannah = Edward KNIGHT,b.1829; W.H.J.= Letitia nee PYE, b.1837; Louisa Catherine,b.1840; Emma Adelaide = 1st,Thomas HART; 2nd,William THOMPSON, b.1846; Caroline, b.1849; Henry = Charlotte ??,b.1851.
W.H.J. was my grandfather and I can give you some details of his children if you wish. I am dying of curiosity - are you descended from Henry or Charles Henry. The latter was my uncle. If the latter then we are cousins. If so I have a million questions to ask !!. There is a descendant of Emma Adelaide living here in Napier. We have met and exchanged information but unfortunately he did not trace back further than William Charles. W.H.J. has always caused me bother when trying to locate his place of birth supposedly in St Lukes Parish, Middlesex.
He too was a mathematical instrument maker as was Charles the father of Letitia. I look forward with great anticipation to your reply. Donald Charles PYE.

Hello Donald,
This is excellent news. My great grandfather was Henry George Louis Arthur Pye, your grandfather's brother. He married Charlotte Reeves on 23/3/1875. His father William Charles also had an elder brother, Henry Charles b.16/11/1806. Their parents were Henry Elizabeth, but I have not found any more information regarding them.
In 1851 your grandfather was living at 14, Nelson Terrace, Islington, with the rest of the family, an apprentice a nurse. (presumably to look after Susannah Edwards second child, a ten day old boy as yet un-named at the time of the census.
I would love to hear more about your side of the family.
I also have a couple of photos which I understand to be William Charles Henry.
My email address is bobpye@chelsea22.fsnet.co.uk
perhaps I could scan them and email you with them.

Hello Bob
Do you have any connection with Henry James Pye, England's Poet Laureate? Or, more importantly Charles Henry Pye V.C. a soldier, who emigrated to New Zealand, and died there. He was awarded the V.C. as he singlehandedly saved his unit at Lucknow, India after 4 days of ferocious fighting. They are both my ancestors!

Pauline

Bob, Pleaseeeeeeeeeee reply to my message! I for some reason will post something and no-one responds! All I want to know is are you from the Herefordshire, Berkshire side which Henry James Pye, Post Laureate was from. If so we are the same family! I am not a professional genealogist just passionate about my mothers family.
Take care
