I am searching for my grandfather's relatives. His father came to the U.S. from Austria. As I understand it, he was one of three brothers from a family that lived outside of Vienna.
From what I have been told, he was the "black sheep" of the family and disowned.
His family owned an inn outside of Vienna.

Shirley, can´t you give more informations? There are about 40 Eberts in Vienna and about 80 Eberts in Lower Austria, some of them near to Vienna. Need years of birth or marriage or death, and village or region or some other particulars, then perhaps I can help you. You also can search at www.etb.at. My Grandfather's name was Joseph A (Anthony) Ebert and his father's name was Anton or Anthony Ebert.
Anton/Anthony was the "black sheep" of the Austrian family that owned an inn outside of Vienna. Unfortunately, I do not know which direction outside of Vienna. I understand that the family had three sons and Anton/Anthony was the one who emigrated to the United States.
My Grandfather, Joseph was born in the late 1880's, so I think my Great-Grandfather emigrated to the US maybe in the 1870's or early 1880's.
When the parents who owned the inn died, Anton/Anthony went back to Austria to try and claim his right in the inn or estate -- so I was told by my father, Gregory Ebert, who was the grandson of Anton/Anthony Ebert. As I understand the story, he came back to the United States with nothing from the family.
Anton/Anthony settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and married and had a son and daughter. Joseph Anthony Ebert was his son and he is my Grandfather. His sister Mary married a man named Steinkellner and they located in Beloit, Wisconsin, USA.
Joseph Anthony Ebert (my Grandfather) married Eda Otten and they lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and had five children: Robert, Josephine, Gregory (my father), Frances (died at 9 years old) and Joseph.
All of the above relatives are dead and I am trying now to put together the pieces of the Ebert family.
I will be searching for Anton/Anthony Ebert's parents names and the date he arrived in the US and what year he was born, to provide more information.

Papke is Alfred E. Papke from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. I do not know his father's name, but his father was a renowned decorative plasterer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Alfred E. Papke had a sister named Anna H. Papke Strelke (1884-1988) and a brother named Henry J. Papke (1879-1960).
He married Lillian E. Brandt (1895-1985) and they had three daughters: Anita Papke Schroeder, Verna Papke Ebert [my mother] and Averyl Papke Mensching.
My mother (Verna) died just before I turned 5 years old and that is why I do not have a lot of information about the Papke's or the Brandt's.

The man who did the plastering was Otto H. Papke. His company was the Milwaukee Ornamental Carving Company. Otto died on April 2, 1943 and is buried at Union Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin next to his wife, Anna who died in 1896. My wife's grandfather, Emil Gottlieb Papke, was a brother of Otto's. Their parents were Henry and Hennrietta Semigle Papke. Henry died in 1883 and Hennrietta died in 1911. They are also buried in Union Cemetery, Milwaukee, Winconsin. My wife and I recently spent a week in Milwaukee researching the Papkes. Have more information of the Papke family.

His sister Anne had a son named Sylvester Steinkellner and they lived in Beloit Wisconsin. He would visit my grandparents around Christmas time every year.
If you e-mail a message to me, I will send a picture of Sylvester that my Sister Peggy sent to me.
It seems like we may be related!
