Lawrence, My great-grandfather and his wife, James and Catherine Rooney Robb, settled in Perth County Logan Township near Stratford around 1840. James came with his mother Mary and a number of brothers and an uncle, John Robb. If you have any information, I would be happy to share with you. Paul V. Robb pvrobb@jesuits-chi.org

Hello,

I suspect we may be related. My great-grandfather, James Robb, emigrated from Co Armagh Parish of Derrynoose near
Crossreagh to Perth County and Logan Township in the very early 1840's. He came with his widowed mother Mary and brothers Alexander, William, John, and Thomas and sister Helen. All, except widow Mary are buried in the Knox Presbterian Cemetery in Mitchell Ontario. I believe a nephew of Mary and cousin of James, John Robb, came with them. I believe he was in the next township over from Logan. Some of his descendants spell their name Rabb. James was married to Elizabeth Rooney.

Lawrence -
I was in Stratford this summer researching the Kelly family. The Kelly's lived several farms down from the Robbs and intermarried. Elizabeth McPherson Robb (Samuel and Margaret's daughter) married my great great grandfather's brother, Thomas Kelly. When my great great grandmother Augusta Pearson Kelly died during childbirth, Patrick Kelly gave his daughter to Lizzie and Thomas to raise as their own in Wisconsin.

I have photo's of the tombstones for both Samuel Robb in Stratford, and Lizzie Robb Kelly in Wisconsin, as well as some photo's of Lizzie if you are interested.

Lizzie had three children of her own. William A. Kelly, Francis John Kelly, and Margaret Robb Kelly -who died while awhile in college in 1932.

I am happy to send the photo's if you like. Any chance you have Kelly connections?

I was wondering if you might have some information on James Kelly and his wife Mary (Callaghan) Kelly. I have neither birthdates nor dates of death. I do know they were originally from Ireland but lived in Stratford, Ontario at least from 1849 to 1853 - possibly earlier and later. Two of their daughters Mary (b. 30 Jul 1849 d. 3 Feb 1937) and Margaret (b. 5 Apr 1853 d. 8 Aug 1930) were born in Stratford and married brothers Dennis and William Donnelly respectively. Both daughters moved to Chippewa County, Michigan in the early 1880s. My only information on James Kelly and his wife Mary Kelly comes from the death certificates of these two daughters. I was wondering if you may came accross any of these Kellys during your research in Stratford. Any information on these Kellys would be greatly apprectiated.
