I have never posted a tree on Ancestry. One of the reasons is that I have numerous persons and families in my FTM file that are not “my relatives.” While we have at least one relative in common, we have no ancestors in common.

Now that I have submitted my DNA to Ancestry, I want to upload “my” tree to Ancestry.

My proposed solution is to create a new FTM file by exporting information on me, my ancestors and descendants of my ancestors. I would then upload this tree to Ancestry.

My question pertains to updating the tree on Ancestry after updating my original FTM file.

The simple solution would seem to be to export a new file using the same parameters and overwrite/replace the old file. Will it be a simple “link and sync” the Ancestry file to the new FTM file or will I encounter problems?
