Though Ancestry offers up a search for Pennsylvania German Pioneers 700+page ship manifest book, I have found repeated occasions where the search is not producing results for names that I found in the book myself. Sadly, I have relied on these "search results" for years and have missed very important information on my ancestors...like when they arrived in America...I am not happy.

This is a common issue with all of Ancestry's records. The indexing/search means are not good. I've found more records by the wife's name or child's name due to FTM search not knowing the difference between Wm, Wm., William, Will, Jas, James, etc..

Regards,

I have written several ancestry locations. Thanks. Just a sad heads up to all. This book is considered the seminal reference book for German ancestor research. So much for my World Ancestry fee.

Can you provide a link to this "Pennsylvania German Pioneers 700+page ship manifest book"?

Is this search through Family Tree Maker or is it a hint from a Ancestry tree, or is it just a search at the Ancestry web page?

Then this is a Ancestry issue and not a Family Tree Maker one.
This area is for FTM issues and not ones that one would run into using the Ancestry webpage search.

As stated above, you need to cantack Ancestry at the 1-800-262-3787

Thank you. I have done searches on FTM, so I think it may still apply, ie, the search results are not complete and accurate for Pennsylvania German Pioneers.

I have sent info to support@ancestry.com

Volume I of this work is available for free at hathitrust.org (and probably elsewhere online.)

Perhaps hathitrust.org's scan is better?

Note: For some reason, hathitrust labelled it v. 42, but it is Volume I.
