"Go" icon next to "new search" on Web Search workspace

Hi

I'm a complete beginner.

Please can somebody kindly tell when to use this button?

Is there a suggested help page that answers this sort of question?

Thanks

Tedathy

There are 2 search interfaces - "old" (the original) and "new".

There are proponents of both; there are good and not-so-good points to both.

Test them both and see which you prefer or you can move back and forth and use new for some searches and old for others, if that is your preference.

When you are in "new" search format, you will see a "go to old search" in the same location.

The "GO" button is the same as hitting enter on your keyboard. You can type in or copy-paste an address and click "GO" to load the page.

Thanks for replying

I have found the link in green text at the bottom of the "searching for" form and note the change between the two versions of the form.

The "go" button I'm curious about is ringed in the attached image of screen dump. Are we talking about the same thing?

I can't find any reference to this in the guide book that came with the disc!

Thanks

Hi Tedathy:

JohnMcGrew answered your question a couple of days ago. It is just the same as hitting "enter" on your keyboard. It initiates loading whatever the url is that is in the url box. That can be pasted from your browser, or from notes that you may have somewhere. I usually hit enter after pasting, but hitting the "Go" button is an alternative. If you hit it when you are at a page that was previously navigated to, it is the same as hitting the "reload" button.
