Are marriage records in the 1930s in Singapore of English born people kept at the GRO in the UK or if registered with the local consul office transferred to UK?

The GRO certainly has volumes of overseas BMD indexes, from which you can order certificates, but they're not available to view on Ancestry. They are however available on another well known subscription site. Could you list the names of the couple you're looking for and I'm sure someone can have a look for you.

Thanks for reply. I am looking for a marriage between Thea Foster Brown and Hugh McIntyre that would have occurred between 1936 and 1942. Probably in the 1937/8 period. I know that she went from the USA to Singapore in 1936 and was killed in 1942 during evacuation of Singapore.

Updating info search. It now appears that Thea Foster Brown sailed to Singapore from USA after the end of 1937 so the marriage would have been between 1938 and 1942. According to a family letter that has been discovered she was English and would have been born circa 1915.
