Searching for information on Lily Eunice Matthews who lived in Edmonton, Alberta. Wanting to find out her parents names. They were from England.
Lily E. Matthews wrote poems and songwriter in 1947. Music by James Bruce. She had daughter Clarice Blundell Matthews.Clarice married Manly Campbell moved to Vancouver, B.C. and Marge Matthews (she married an Anderson). He was killed in car accident 1950. Marge had sons Billy and Jack.

Hi, Check with Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness - Alberta -
*there may be volunteers there. A Volunteer for Edmonton offers Cemetery photo's

Contact the Cemetery Office - they will know the name of the funeral Home in charge of arrangements - they may have taken information for an obituary - or may hold a copy with the files.

Edmonton Public Library - may have newspapers in their collection - may offer search/copy.

Hi: Another Thought: Since your research is in Edmonton - Posting to the Message Board for Edmonton - may find a volunteer to search for Obituary etc.

Thank you Stella. I called a Funeral Home here in New Westminster, B.C. and the person had died 1936. They told me they can't give out information because of Privacy Act. But I will try with your suggestion.

Hi, Strange - they should be able to tell you if there was an Obituary - the date and place where it was published -this is public record.

What Funeral HOme: Bowell funeral Home - has some records online

A death in British Columbia - will be found at the Provincial Archive Vital events site online.

all personal information required at the time
time in municipality,Province, Canada
Place of Death. Name and address.
Date and place of birth - sex.citizenship.race.

Names of parents including mothers maiden name - place of birth of parents - if known to the informant.
Name and address of Informant. Relationship to deceased.
Date of death. Cause of Death. Burial or Cremation.
Name and address of Funeral Home, Cemetery,Physician.

Filmed Registration can be viewed at no cost at the Provincial Archive in Victoria. Some Public or Univeristy Libraries in BC. Information can be transcribed - or - photo copied at .50 cents or less - depending on copy machine.

VOLUNTEERS - at Random acts of Genealogical Kindness - British Columbia - ANY who offer search of Public Record- can transcribe or copy information found in the filmed registrations.

The Master Surname Index (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists these possible names;

Lily Eunice MATHEWS, 1878 - 29 May 1965
Clarence E. MATHEWS, 1880 - 8 Nov 1959
buried next to each other in the Edmonton 7ave cemetery.

The plot was paid by Marjorie ANDERSON
