Looking for descendents of James and Mary A (Horle/Harle) Chappell found in Skaneateles 1850-~1900.
He died 1883 in Skaneateles, and she died 1917 in Syracuse.
Children include Frederick, Walter, James, Charles, Frank and Dora/Doretta.
Would like to confirm maiden name of Mary. If can confirm, can provide likely link to Somerset, England and Horle families found there.
Thanks for any help.
Karen

Karen...This could be the same James. My James was listed in the 1855 census in Chanengo Co. as living with John M Chappell and Mary D--he was listed as James brother and he was a harness maker. Would you have anything more on them? I am very interested in Eugene Chappell which would be James nephew. I can give you some info on John M if you need it. Not much but a little. Looking forward to your reply. Janice

HI Janice. The CHAPPELL families I am tracing are found in Skaneateles from 1850 forward. Some of the children are also found in Syracuse.
So I don't think these two lines connect right now.
Sorry, but good luck in your search.
Best, Karen

Hello Karen - I see this post is rather dated, but I am just getting started and did a search and saw your post.
James (Benjamin) Chappell and Mary A. from Skaneateles, NY are my g-g-grandparents.
James was born in 1827 and died 8/23/1883.
Mary A. was born 1835 and died 1917. I do not have a surname on Mary - have you been able to verify this?
They had a son Franklin Benjamin Chappell.
Have info on several of James's brothers.
I also have a newspaper clipping from the funeral of Myrtice Chappell (daughter of Franklin Benjamin Chappell) that shows an Edward Horle in attendance. Not sure if this helps you, but thought it interesting that the last name matches one of the two you proposed.

Hello - I am back researching this family, and discovered your message!
I have some information that links Mary Ann Chappell to some of the Horle families found in Skaneateles.
I believe all these families are related, and that they emigrated to the US from Banwell, Somerset England. I am interested in these families as I am a direct descendant of Thomas Horle, born 1821 in Banwell, to James and Sarah (maiden name unknown) Harl/Horl/Hurl.
I have more details if you would like to discuss.
