Church Records

I have enjoyed going through many of the church records at ArkiveOnline and have verified valuable information about my Danish ancestors. However, by the time I get back to the 1700s the records are so hard to read that I reach an impasse. Are there plans to try and transcribe these documents going on in Denmark? Even the best of you on this board are reluctant to try and translate and I don't blame you. Without the church records, where can researchers go for information? I try and verify every date in the church records before I add them to my tree. So I don't readily add information from other trees just because the names are the same. Just thinking out loud...
Best Wishes, Jan

Some Danish volunteers on this website specialize in reading the old Gothic script:

Slægt og Data DIS-Danmark "Find Your Relatives in Denmark"

www.gramtrans.com is a good online program for translating Danish to English. The forum "Find Your Relatives in Denmark" is for non-Danish speakers. Most who use it speak English.
