I'm looking for any/all information pertaining to any/all african americans bearing the surname Cherry from Upper Fishing Creek, Edgecombe county area. I'm also wanting info/record copies of births/marriages/deaths, slave owners, residential locations, cemeteries. Cherry's of particular interest lived (1880s) near/around Bryant's, Whitaker's, Williams', all AA surnames. Lucy Cherry died sometime between the years of 1880-1895.

I find one surname of CHERRY in my HEADSTONES OF HALIFAX, VOL.1, Compiled by J.Rives Manning, Jr., copyright 1996.

1) HAYWOOD F. CHERRY, b. 1890, d.1940 cemetery #135 LAFAYETTE POWELL CEMETERY; Located approx. 300 yards east of SR1434, Sam Powell Dairy Rd., approx. 1/2 mile West of NC 48. (From a 1991 survey)
