Searching for Amasa Crooker, Crocker

Hello,
I’m looking for Crockers and Crookers. My husband’s great grandfather was James R. Crocker believed to be born about 1846 in Vermont. Another Crocker researcher believes his father was Amasa Crooker. If you are familiar with this family I would love to be in contact. My James R. Crocker married Agnes Taylor in 1881 probably in Illinois.
Thanks!

He sent me the following information.
This is the family of James Crooker of Burlington, Chittenden, VT in 1850 Census:

Amasy Crooker 47 M mason Mass
MargaretCrooker 38 F Ireland
Eugene Crooker 13 M Con
Henry Crooker 11 M VT
Phillip Crooker 9 M VT
Abel Crooker 7 M VT
James Crooker 4 M VT
Martin Crooker 2 M VT
Maria Crooker 16 F VT

1860 Rockford, Winnebego, IL
age sex occupation birthplace
Crocker, Amasa 57 M stone mason MA
Margaret 50 F Ireland
Andrew 21 M Vermont
Abel 18 M Vermont
James 16 M Vermont
Martin 13 M Vermont
Eliza 20 F Vermont
Maria 17 F Vermont

From FamilySearch:

Amasa was married first to Felice Luriea who was born in France. Felice died 16 Jan 1850 in Burlington, Chittenden, VT
and is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery. Felice would have likely been the mother to all the above children and Margaret was
stepmother. I can't find the family later in the census with the exception on Martin who can be found in 1880 in Geneva, Kane,
IL. as Martin A. Crocker, age 32, merchant, b. VT, fbp. MA, mbp France.

Amasa Crocker is the son of Abel Crocker b. 1779 MA d. 18 May 1848 Burlington, Chittenden, VT. Amasa married Hannah Tobey 10 Jan 1802, Boston, Suffolk, MA.

The spelling is Crooker for all lines except for some children of Amasa. I descend from Amasa's brother Albert Crooker. Maril Tart is also researching Amasa's family.

Thank you for your reply. Below is all I have proof for, for my Crocker family. From census data I know James was born in Vermont in 1845/6 depending where his birthday falls. In Amasa's family there was a James born in 1846 in Vermont. It seems likely that is my James, but I'm not sure how to prove that. Any suggestions would be welcome.
