I have seen a lot of messages re: Rymer's in the Polk County area... I have my line coming into East Tennessee (Hamblen County Area) about 1890-1900... Just wondering if they were related to the Rymer's in Virginia. I would be grateful for any info.

I haven't been able to connect my line to Polk county... as weird as that may seem. In fact I have come across tons of Rymer info for that area. My line seems to come from Virginia to West Virginia to Upper East Tennessee (Hamblen, Jefferson, Cocke, and Greene Counties.) I believe you will be able to find lots of info on this board, it seems most of the Rymer's here trace through Polk County. But if I can be of any help, just let me know. We have an excellent historical society in Knoxville.

My great-great grandmother was born in Polk Co., TN and latter moved to Dalton, GA. I am trying to track down her family- her name was Susie Rebecca RYMER, was born 1871 and married William Lee Hill in Dalton in 1886. I am trying to find out her ancestory. Suposedly, her father left her mother and moved to OK. The name Tom or John Hawkins has been mentioned as has a Cherokee Indian connection. Please let me know if any of this sounds familiar. I'm VERY interested!

Quite possibly. I have 7Jan. 1870, but dates can get messed up. Only info. other than name, date of birth, and marriage (also name of husband) is info. on her children. William HILL (Willie on record of marriage) in Dalton, GA 11OCT 1886. Eleven children, last born in 1911. Think there maybe someone with last name of HAWKINS as ancestor. Thanks!
