My great grandfather was Pitt W. Staton born in 1873. He was orphaned as a boy and raised by JOhn Coffey of Coffey town. He died at the age of 50. He married Eliza Jane Campbell, d/o Thomas Massie Campbell of Nelson county. I am searching for any information on Pitt Staton. Who were his parents. A cousin said that his mother was widowed in 1870 and her name may have been Sarah. Also I have heard that Pitt and his brother Charles were illegitimate.

Cool, I have all of her information and know where her old homeplace is on Franklin Creek. Her father Pitt had purchased a piece of property on Buffalo Creek prior to his death. I am still looking for information on Pitt Statons parents. I believe he may have been born in Nelson county. He was orphaned as a boy and raised by JOhn Coffey of Coffeytown in Amherst County Virginia. Pitt and his brother Charles were said to have been Illegitimate. Their mothers name was Sarah (according to the 1870 and 1880 census)
also her two year younger brother Benjamin was living with her in 1870. And thats as far baCK as I know.
But yes and thanks I have all of the information on Beulah Virginia Staton and her three sisters; Cora, Eva, and Zeliah. And I have the family of Beulahs mother, the Campbells. Her mother was Eliza Jane Campbell. Also I ahve found that Pitt Staton was a prominant citizen in Amherst county and even drove the first school bus.
