My grandpa's family is from Wheelwright, Ky. He often tells the story of Sol Fleming, who was hunted down and shot over a hundred times by another man for messing with his sister. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard about this story, or if anyone would like to know more. I can ask him to tell me the details.

I have a few more details on this story now. Apparantly, Sol Fleming and his brother were dating the same girl (unknown identity). It had obviously caused much jealousy and rivalry between the two. Sol must have felt that he was losing the battle, because one day he decided to put an end to the problem. He lured the girl into the woods for a walk, and when they were out of earshot of anyone else, he shot her. Well, it didn't take long for this girl's brother to form a posse and hunt down Sol (someone figured out that he did it). They found him in the woods, and riddled him with bullets--up to 200 according to the story. He fell into a depression in the ground such as that of an uprooted tree, and was found there by someone at a later date. I think the posse arrived on horseback.. Sol may have been on foot at the time. I believe this happened sometime between 1915-1920, again somewhere in Southeastern Ky, probably near Wheelwright. This is one of the reasons my great-grandfather, Garfield Johnson brought his family to Ohio. He was afraid his boys would get mixed up in some of the fighting that had been going on. If anybody knows anymore about this story or about Sol Fleming, please let me know. I would love to get the details on this straight so I can pass down this story. Thanks!

My great grandfather was murdered by Sol Fleming. His name was Sid Tackitt. Do you know anything about that? I would like to maybe get court transcripts of the trial if you happen to know where to look. Or at least learn some of the details. I've seen a few stories about Sol on the internet over the years but can't find them now. I do have a little bit printed if you are interested.

Sharon-
Please email me at mtnjewel@hotmail.com. I would love to see what information you have on Sol and the Tackitts. I have many, many Tackitt relatives from that part of Kentucky, so we may be related.
Thanks!
Jess

Sol was my grandfather's grandfather, I believe. I would be very interested in any information you may have about my ancestry. My grandfather just passed away last year, his name is Pridemore Fleming. He claimed to be part cherokee, and my mother looked it. I believe he had a brother named George. His fathers name is Hibbert Fleming, and he married Bessie Street(?) I was able to trace it back from online info to Ireland, and on the Stumbaugh side to Alsace.

My grandpa wasn't really in touch with the rest of his family, and had moved to Detroit, MI, in the 50's. He married my grandmother, Theresa Pruchnic(she is still alive today living in Dallas, TX near her daughter/my aunt Monica)
Theresa and Pridemore Fleming had three children, Ronald, Monica, and Catherine Sharon(My Mother). My mother married Osvaldo Salvatore Bongiorno, and had my Sister Laura Alessandra, and me, Gina Maria Bongiorno. My sister married Brandon Little, and had a little girl 2 years ago, Ellieanna Minot Little.

Any more information about my ancestry would be appreciated.

At one point I found a picture of Sol with handcuffs on, years ago on the net, but was unable to find it again. The article said he was a bank robber.
