What specific information are you looking for?

Ragnhild was actually born 23 March 1837 as you can see from the scanned images of the Hjartdal parish records.

There is a message board devoted to Telemark in the 'Counties' folder on this webpage for Norway.

First of all, my apologies for not seeing this message sooner. I've become overwhelmed trying to organize what I have so far.
Second, many thanks for the information you sent. I would never have been able to have found it. I don't read Norwegian. From what you said about the date of birth, am I correct assuming the date of 2 April 1837 is the date of baptism. Could you tell me what the other two columns are. I have that Ragnild's father was Sigurd Tordsen or Thorsen and her mother was Marthe Hermundsdatter (Hermansdatter). Is that what the document says.
Do you live in Norway?
Again, thank you so much.
Marty (Martha)

The column headings of the Norwegian church record printed formats are translated for us as part of this informative online article. It's a great study and useful to you for all the years of your Norwegian research hobby.

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html

I live in the US and some of my Norwegian emigrant ancestors also lived in Buena Vista Co. IA which is where I encountered the story of the family. Norwegian records are easily available to us for our family history research and learning to use online lists of translated words and use educational articles like above can make it relatively easy and always fascinating.

I should have recognized Ragnhild... I've encountered her family before. Her brother, Thor, narrated a brief history of his life and emigration to the US that is interesting and is online (link below).

Here is what I know about Ragnhild. She and Ole had one daughter (Anne ca.1863) in Norway before they emigrated. They are most often found in US records with the surname Berg or Berge and they were last found in Moody Co. South Dakota. Their children were Annie, Tomine, Ole, Ragnhild, Severt and Martha.

Ragnhild's sister, Torbjørg, married Harald Haraldsen and they had eight children before they emigrated to the US in 1875.

The only brother, Thor Sigurdsen, married Ingri Olsdatter from the Risvold farm in Hjartdal.

The parents of these three siblings were Sigurd Torsen (ca. 1787-1867 from Hjartdal) and Marta Hermunsdatter (born ca. 1784 in Hafslo district of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway - died 1879 in Hjartdal).

Thor Sigurdsen's fascinating personal story -

Oh my heavens! I did not see this message. I am a little behind in my research. This is wonderful. Does the date mean the date of baptism or the date of birth?

That's very exciting. I guess I'm going to have to learn to read Norwegian and Norwegian handwriting from the early 1800s.

Thank you very much
