Syncing Problems- wish I'd never installed this program

It just wiped out all my ggm's tree online. FTM doesn't show her tree, but her ancestors are still in my list and when I select them I can see their tree, and when I go 1 arrow back from there, I can see my GM. As soon as I go another arrow back they all dissappear. This is so frustrating and I am really mad that I lost them online now!

It did the same thing to me a year ago when I started genealogy. I have deleted it and was waiting for them to fix it but it looks like I may have to buy another product.
I'm so sorry you lost all of your info. Have you called tech support? They may be able to retrieve it for you.

Good Luck

Did you delete the tree, or has the sync link just been broken? Are you using FTM 2012?

If you did not go through the delete process, which asks for your password an extra time and asks are you really sure, the data is probably still there, just perhaps hiding.

Can you access the tree online, from ancestry.com?

In the right hand panel of FTM, is the name of the tree listed? (see attached screenshot)

If it is not listed there, try opening from File>Open and then navigating to the folder where your FTM file is stored.

Good luck!

If the people are still there, you've just detached a branch. Often this happens when you see a duplicate person and try to delete one of them instead of merging; you end up deleting the person through whom the branch was connected to your tree.

It's pretty easy to correct, just re-attach the key people (if your grandmother is missing from your tree, just attach her - if it's her parents that are missing from your tree, re-attach them. Everyone else will follow automatically).

You can do this in either FTM or on Ancestry.com, just do ONE of the following, then sync to fix it on the other tree. Note that these articles talk about how to DETACH and how to REATTACH. Your people are already detached, so skip to the 2nd part of the article:
