I had a great uncle Raeford (Raiford) DAvis who had a son Walter Grady Davis and a daughter Sudie DAvis. Raeford is buried at Red Springs, as is his daughter Sudie. I just responded to a query from Walter Grady.

I am also researching the same family of Davis's. Ed Davis is my great grandfather. He was married to Nancy Jane Clifton from Elizabethtown. Ed was born in 1846 and died in 1933 (buried in St. Pauls). Jane was born 3/9/1855 and died 5/25/1915 buried in Columbus Co. My ganddaddy is George Empie Davis b. 9/8/1889 died 11/19/1976. My daddy is B.S. Davis still living 89 years old Evergreen, NC. I have more information on the childern of Ed and Jane, but trying to find information on Ed's parents and Jane's parents. Ed lost his arm when his wedding ring got caught at a saw mill. I think Ed was born before his mother was married and was raised by his mother's brother Bill Davis. His mother married a Callihian or Kallihian I think. Hope this helps. Please send any more information you might have.

I don't recognize any of the names but my grandparents were both Davis and were from Bladen County White Oak area. Names are Henry Cleveland Davis married Laney Burdetta Davis had 8 children. Grandmas parents are buried in the White Oak church cemetary. I have not been able to find any information on grandpa's family. I know that grandma was Cherokee and Italian lineage and grandpa was Dutch/Irish. I think grandpa's parents were Harriette or Hneritta and his father's name was Teed Davis. Grandmas parents were John Richardson Davis and Martha Jane Suggs.

Have recently found some old pictures and a couple of papers with the name marie davis carter or marie davis rieger on them. The address is a very old one listed in chadbourn. None of the pictures have names on them but maybe you would know who they are. I got on the internet and traced her name to George Empie Davis with the same dates. I would love to get this pictures to some of her family if I could. Please contact me back at stewartssweetie@yahoo.com or call me at 910-654-1106.
