Abram Foote vs. Nathaniel Goodwin

Would like to know folks' critical opinion of the two works most cited here:

- Foote family comprising the genealogy and history of Nathaniel Foote of Wethersfield, Conn. and his descendants
... (2 vols) by Abram w. Foote / 1907

AND

Foote family: descendants of Nathaniel Foote, one of the
first settlers of Wethersfield, Conn., genealogical notes of Pasco Foote, who settled in Salem, Mass., and
John Foote and others of the name, who settled more recently
in New York. by Nathaniel Goodwin, / 1849.

Where do we find the most reliable reporting, or the most egregious errors?

In the preface to his book Abram Foote says that he is including the material in Nathaniel Goodwin's history of the family, that his book could not be as complete without it.
