Re: John Middleton. According to the 1880 Scott Co. AR Census, he was boarding with a family named Jenkins in Hickman Twnp and was 22 yrs old. (ED 171/Fam. #429) His father was R.R. Middleton, age 54, living in Mountain Twp (ED 170/Fam #61) with wife Nancy A., age 45, and children: Wm., 25, and his wife Cynthia, 20; John H., 21, Isaac N., 15; James F., 13; and Nancy R., 10. John was arrested in 1882 for burning the Scott Co. Courthouse. I am in the process of researching this family and the interesting events directly following his arrest for a historical article for our gen. society so I am daily uncovering items at this point. Thought this might answer your family tree questions, though.

That John b. 1858 Tn is NOT the son of R. R. Middleton. R.R.'s son John H. b. 1859 Ms is shown living in his fathers household in 1880. None of our Middleton's were born/lived in TN. Try Pope/Yell co for a fit, Dardenelle area.

John b. 1858 residing in the Jenkins household was not enumerated as being born in Tn but AR.
