Surnames: Oehler
Hans probably came from Bremen Germany. Ambrose, his son, was most likely born in eastern Iowa...Dubuque, Delhi, Delaware, or Bellevue.

I have oehlers in my line that were from cinci jacob and pauline they had 6 children i don't have any dates.

Correction to my post in 1999: Ambrose OEHLER was born in Langhurst, Schutterwald, Germany in 1805. He emigrated to the US, Cincinnati, with his mother Maria Anna Oehler and her husband, Michael Buerkle/Birkle, and several other children plus Maria's brother Sylvester and his family. (Michael was apparently Ambrose's step-father; Maria Anna was probably not married when she had Ambrose.) Ambrose and his wife Eva (along with the Werth family, I believe) donated land for St. James Catholic Church in Cincy, before they moved to Dubuque County, Iowa in about 1841-3. [Maria Anna was the daughter of Sebastian Oehler and Barbara Hugel. Etc.] There's more...
