Hello~ We are new to this and need help! This would be my Great great Grandpa. His wife's name was Pauline. We just got an acct so we can find out where he was born and where he lived. We are going to Germany on a missions trip in Berlin. After that in April we would like to travel to Norway and find out and see our family heritage. PLEASE HELP point us in the right direction!

You need to post more information! When were they born? Where and when did they marry? Where did they live in America? What about children? When did they immigrate? You need to give a starting point before anyone can help.

Familysearch.org shows a Mathias Svendsen and his wife Pouline Danielsdr had a child, Marthe Magrethe Schou Matiasen, 1822 in Bo, Nordland, Norway.

There is NO information known to us here that would link that couple to you at all because you have not provided any.

Also that couple does not appear in Bo, Nordland for the 1801 Norwegian census so they are likely to have come from another area.
