Anna Rosefiord, Oslo Norway

My Grandmother was born in Oslo Norway and her maiden name was Rosefiord. I hope I am spelling this correctly. Every time I try to look something up it is in another language. She had relatives that stayed in Norway and she came here around 1917. I think she was only 20 years old if that.
Thank you in advance.

So far this is correct.
John her husband was Johannes, died a year after my grandmother. I am told he had cancer of the jaw.

Anna died from plurasey. I don't know the correct spelling and there was another child after my mother that died shortly after he was born. So my mother wasn't officially the youngest.

Son was also Johannes but was really John and his dates are good.

Daughter Dorothy was my Aunt and dates are pretty good. +

Son Bjarnes was my uncle also we called him uncle Bud. He died from complications from brain surgery. He had 2 children with my Aunt Catherine. He was a really good man.

daughter Bertha did die and she was my mother and her date is also good for her death. She was only 46 years old at the time.

There was another daughter named Evelyn. I never meet her she died young. I think in her twenties I don't know what she died from. She lived on Staten Island I am told.

What is the source that tells you Anna was born in Oslo?

There is no one of the name you've listed in the 1900 or 1910 Norwegian censuses. You can search also -
http://www.rhd.uit.no/indexeng.html

When she arrived in New York she had to have come by boat - did you find the passenger record of her arrival? What port did it list her coming from in Norway?

When she married she must have given information about herself to get a marriage license - what name did she give for her father? what place of birth?

Hello,
I have tried to get a marriage License but, New York is not very good with giving out information.

I was told she had relatives in Olso, it is possible she was born in a small town.
I will check the website you sent in your reply.
Her ship was the same as my Grandfather, her husband she meet him on the ship. So I do have that info they came to the US via Liverpool.
Thanks.

Hi

Not in Oslo, but in the 1900 census there is a Anna living at the farm Rosfjord in Lyngdal, Vest-Agder. Her surname in the census is Antons.(datter), but she might have used Rosfjord:

Anne Tomine was confirmated 1900 and her parents were Anton Karlsen and Jette Guttormsdatter. She was born July 13, 1886.

I have not found her leaving Norway nor have I found her in the norwegian 1910 census.

Your information does not match what is available to read in US census enumerations for that family. Your Anna came to the US more than 10 years before what you estimate.

Be sure that you thoroughly exhaust the US records available to you before you try to research overseas.

Brooklyn marriage records are available on LDS microfilm. Research in US censuses, state censuses, city directories, church records where the family were members -- anything and everything that you can.
