I am working on Wilkins line from Robeson/Johnston Counties in NC. So far, the oldest Wilkins ancestor I have is Theophilus Wilkins. Anyone out there working on NC Wilkins?
My great-grandfather, Richard B. Wilkins, was born in North Carolina in 1815. He married Melissa Norrell (from Kentucky). They later moved to Mississippi where all six of their children were born. Have you perhaps run across his name in your research? I do not know where he was born nor who his parents were.
My father, Francis Lloyd (Frank)Wilkins, was born in Leaksville, N.C. (now Eden) on April 23,1920. His father was Robert Lee Wilkins, born August 7, 1901. He married Virginia Simpson of Stokes County, N.C. His father was John Wesley Wilkins who married Laura Alice Carter. I have sketchy notes from a relative and I think John Wesley's father was Jeremiah Wilkins and his father was Thomas Wilkins....either that or they were both his brothers. I believe they were of English descent, perhaps even coming here from England, themselves. Laura Alice Carter's mother was Amanda Hill, and her father was William Carter. Any info anyone has on these families would be of much help.
Don't know if this will help you but I have found this interesting piece of information.
1749 Samuel Wilkins sold land in what was then Virginia. His intention was to move he and his family to Carolina.
His son, John Wilkins became his administrator in Virginia.
Perhaps we could get some help tying together Samuel Wilkins, an adult in 1749, to your Thomas Wilkins b abt 1830. Someone out there must have documented information on this branch of Wilkins. Hopefully they will respond.
Eagle Point, OR
I have a Jeremiah Wilkins, son on Thomas Wilkins.
Thomas was born 1792 died 1880.
Thomas lived in Stokes Co. N.C.
I have a note that says Jeremiah may have died in the Civil War.
Please let me know if this fits.
Here is my dead end Wilkins, Henry J.Wilkins. The 1850 census lists him living in McNairy Co. Tennesee. It lists him as 27 years old and born in Va. His wife is Mary E.
age 23 born in NC., one daughter Sarah age 1. I am pretty sure he had a brother named George Washington Wilkins age 34
born in NC. because they lived close together and bought land together. I feel that their mother's name was Martha
Rebecca since she was living with George in 1850 and was then living with Henry J. in 1860. There is a James Sanders (Saunders) age 48 born in NC living with George also. After years of research I have been unable to locate the father
of Henry J. Wilkins. He had the folowing children:
1. Sarah Adeline Wilkins born 1849 m. Allen C. Rhodes
2. Rebecca Wilkins b. 1851
3. James Bell Wilkins b. 1854 m. Chariety Rickman
4. John F. Wilkins b. 1855 m. Lettie Ann Norwood
5. William C. Wilkins B.1858 m. Mary Eller Swinea
6. George Wilkins b. 1860 m. Martha L.(? Balnkenship,Swinea)
7. Robert Wilkins b. 1861 m. ? Sanders
8. Henry Wilkins b. 1863 m. Lizzie Doss
9. Mary E. Wilkins b. 1867 m. ?
10. Thomas M. Wilkins B. 1870 m. Anna ?
These are other names in Tennessee in 1850 that maybe connected but I can't prove it.
1. Alexander Wilkins age 63 b. NC married Sarah
2. Alexander Wilkins age 24 b. TN married Delpha
3. Anderson S. Wilkins age 36 b.NC married Luvina
4. C.W. Wilkins age 46 b. NC married Charolette
5. Clement Wilkins age 26 b.TN married Jemima
6. Duncan Wilkins age 30 b.NC married ?
7. James Wilkins age 62 b.NC married Susan
8. John Wilkins age 78 b. NC marrie (? Elizabeth)
9. John Wilkins age 30 B. NC married Jane
10. Josiah Wilkins age 41 b. NC married Sarah
11. Mary Wilkins age 41 b. NC

14. Sam J. Wilkins age 50 b. NC married ?
15. T. A. Wilkins age 25 B. NC married Sarah
16. Willis Wilkins age 60 b. NC
There are others but I only listed the ones from NC
Maybe someone can hook up.

I TO FEEL THAT THE WILLIS WILKINS BUNCH WAS RELATED TO
THE MCNAIRY CO WILKINS. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER MADE THE
EXACT CONNECTION. I DO HAVE SOME INFO ON WILLIS WILKINS

FATHER OF HENRY J. WILKINS OR GEORGE WASHINGTON WILKINS
SINCE HE HAD DIED BEFORE THE 1850 CENSUS AND THEIR MOTHER
WAS LIVING WITH HENRY J. WILKINS. HER NAME WAS MARTHA
