I am looking for info on James Capper born 1800 in Witton Cheshire. His parents were John Capper and Elizabeth Minshall.

My Gr Gr Grandfather James Broomhall was born in Wrexham Nth Wales in 1803. He was convicted in Chester and transported to Tasmania in 1825 where he lived out the remainder of his life, and honest free man. At the time of his marriage he revealed his real name was James Capper and that his mother still lived in Chester. Could he be linked to this James Capper of Chester.

The James Capper I have married Phebe Wedgewood 2nd Feb 1823 in Wybunbury Cheshire.

Is it possible that this James Capper who married in 1823 in UK was then convicted in Chester for stealing changed his identy to James Broomhall to ? protect family and was transported to Tasmania 1824. He wold have been young early 20's at the most. He never returned to UK living out his life in Australia. He revealed at the time of his marriage his real name being James Capper and his mother was still living in Chester.
